What is iBeacon ?
iBeacon is a location tracking protocol first developed and introduced by Apple in 2013. Beacons are tiny, wireless bluetooth radio relay sensors. Smartphones nearby automatically receive signals from the beacon's content, which allows you to easily guide, inform and personalize your products or services to your target audiences within the signal range.
Where is iBeacon technology used
The iBeacon technology used in conjunction with a custom built mobile application opens a world of opportunity for industries where it's necessary to establish direct relationship with customers or guide them along a path or a flow of information.
BLE technology - the core of iBeacon
Bluetooth Low Energy or BLE is the core signaling mechanism that makes iBeacon possible. It has the same capability as traditional Bluetooth to transmit data within a short distance but it consumes less energy hence is cost saving.
